Through the efforts of a south Maui community volunteer organization, Hoaloha ‘Aina, led by former residents of Maui Kamaole, beautiful scenic oceanfront hiking trails are now easily accessible across from Maui Kamaole. These trails offer close oceanfront views of scenic lava cliffs, hidden ocean bays, secret beaches and marine and bird wildlife. These trails offer an opportunity for a leisurely hike along the ocean as well as several benches for peaceful relaxation and to take in the natural beauty and enjoy the spectacular Maui sunsets. Hoaloha ‘Aina is a grass roots organization working together with county and state agencies to offer protection of our Maui shoreline and building and maintaining a walking trail that connects the South Maui Coastal Heritage Corridor. Using an ancient Hawaiian tradition the Hiking Trails are edged with Coral |

Closest access to the walking trails is through the Kihei Boat Ramp parking area across from Maui Kamaole. Proceed to the boat ramp and either turn north towards Kamaole Beach Park III or turn to the south leading towards Keawakapu Beach. The North Route begins at the ocean side Handicap Parking stall and heads right leading up to a beautiful overlook and through the sand dunes and kiawe trees and on to Kamaole III Beach. The trail offers sunset and views of Molokini and Kaho’olawe islands.
The South Route begins just to the side of the boat ramp and heads left toward Kihei Surfside Resort en route to Keawakapu Beach. Upon entering the Kihei Surfside resort area, please respect the resorts’ privacy and do not cut through the middle of their grass areas. However, you may feel free to travel along either the left side toward the parking area and South Kihei Road, or walk along the ocean side towards the beach. These grassy areas are public access points for this area.
